Lloyd Sports + Engineering has been brought on to the Titans team for the practice field renovation with the SubAir system installation. The SubAir system operates in two directions allowing air to be pumped into the natural grass root zone from underneath the field and also having the ability to reverse the system and pull excess drainage water out. This gives field managers the ability to understand and control their full field profile from both the surface and subsurface levels. Lloyd was on site this week to monitor the construction progress and assist with issues that arose during the demolition and subgrade preparation of the field including solutions to existing drainage problems and how best to approach various aspects of construction sequencing. The facility is built on an old clay mining site with shot-rock fill which has presented several unique challenges to the project. In order to ensure efficiency with the SubAir system, the field is separated from the subgrade with a PVC lake liner, essentially creating a bathtub condition. The success of the SubAir system will be critical for the long-term health of the natural grass. Comments are closed.
