Tempe Union High School District Year 3 field renovation construction is underway for both Marcos De Niza and Mountain Pointe High Schools! These are the final two of six schools to get upgrades to their football facility. Both schools will receive new synthetic fields, minor site upgrades, and new scoreboards for the upcoming school year. Sports Fields Inc. is doing a great job in keeping the project moving forward. Grading and subbase prep is almost complete for both schools with utility work soon. Here are some photos from our site visit last week. Lloyd Sports + Engineering wanted to highlight and thank our interns for all their hard work, as we are lucky to have such thoughtful and dedicated individuals on our team. Lia has been with Lloyd for over a year, and is finishing her final year as a Landscape Architecture student at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Jacob joined Lloyd this summer as a recent graduate from the University of Utah, and received his bachelors degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. We appreciate both Lia and Jacob and look forward to their continued involvement and success with Lloyd as our current interns, and hopefully as future team members of Lloyd!
The Wildcats' new football field is in place! Ten years ago, the Lloyd Sports + Engineering team helped U of A with the major stadium upgrades. High performance synthetic turf fields require a regularly scheduled refresh of the top layers of the turf system. This newly refreshed turf will serve the University of Arizona well for the next decade.
The design for O Jogo Bonito continues to develop as our team works through unique site elements and components for this sports complex in Chino Valley, AZ. The varying levels of fields throughout the complex provide opportunities for sloped spectator seating, view sheds and corridors, and technical training walls which players can utilize as part of their training. The following renderings the team developed in Autodesk Infraworks provided visual aid to understand these unique conditions. The DSU Heritage Foundation, in partnership with Dickinson Public Schools, and Dickinson Parks and Recreation, the Bluehawks are soon to have a new home for Softball and Soccer! The Sanford Sports Complex will house the DSU Championship Softball Field, 3 additional softball training fields as well as a superfield for Soccer training! The softball fields will be a combination of synthetic turf and natural grass. This gives the athletes a solid training base to be at peak performance for the varied fields they will encounter during the season. DSU has put up a live cam, so we can all watch the construction in real time. Check back regularly to watch the progress! Photo courtesy of DSU Heritage Foundation
The Dickinson community has rallied together to make this dream a reality. North of the Biesiot Activities Center will be a new DSU Softball Team home field. The site will be a mix of 4 softball fields and a soccer complex. The home field will be entirely synthetic turf (by SprinTurf), complete with Musco Lighting, fencing, Sportsfield Specialties netting and padding, as well as stadium seating and a pressbox. The remaining three softball fields will have synthetic turf infields with natural grass outfields. The soccer complex to the west is all natural grass and can accommodate up to three 11v11 soccer games, if desired. Construction has started with turf slated to be installed in September. As of now, the rough grading has been completed, and utilities are being installed. We are proud to highlight our partners on this project EAPC Architects Engineers and J E Dunn. Maricopa High School #2 construction continues in Episode 3, HERE. The classroom and gymnasium building construction have moved into the interiors. The Track and Field has its asphalt base installed and is ready for the turf and track surfacing next.
Many thanks for this awesome drone footage update, by our in-house drone pilot, Jake Ireland. We are so proud to have such a great team with Maricopa High School District, Orcutt | Winslow and Chasse Building Team. Our team has had the opportunity to work on various parks and sports recreation centers across the Western Region. In honor of National Parks & Rec Month, we wanted to highlight a few of these projects. We hope you, your colleagues, and families have the opportunity to visit these projects and get active outdoors this month! We’re Hiring! Lloyd Sports + Engineering is looking to fill several positions, from entry level civil design to seasoned project managers and civil engineers.

This week we are revisiting Dickinson State University. In 2009, Lloyd Sports + Engineering assisted Dickinson State University install the Stadium Football field at the Biesiot Activities Center. We recently were lucky to go back and check up on the field, and after 13 years, we have to say, it is still looking good! |
