If you have seen one of our many completed project announcements, you may be wondering, how did it all start? We are going to give you a glimpse into Lloyd’s most recent project for Mountain View and Los Altos High Schools, starting with the design phase. Lloyd recently completed design and received DSA approval for both Mountain View and Los Altos High Schools in the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District. Both schools will receive a brand new synthetic turf practice field, complete with new fencing and landscaping as needed. The design of these fields started in Fall 2019 when Lloyd met with the District, school and RGM Kramer, the District Representative. Both fields had similar programs but site specific needs. Mountain View High School naturally has a larger space, but to accommodate a unified lacrosse field, the design adjusted the fencing along the baseball field. Los Altos High School has a smaller space that is enclosed by existing facilities, giving the field a more urban design approach with all the edges needing to be tied back into an existing condition. As Lloyd worked through the design process there were several meetings discussing impacts on the site circulation, noise, neighborhood use and planned uses. School staff were involved throughout the design process to help ensure it met their needs. See the side by side images of each schools existing school site and colored rendering design for details. Both schools are in the bidding process and we are excited to see the designs come to life. Keep a look out for future updates as this projects moves into the construction phase, starting Summer 2021. Lloyd is thrilled to have been involved with the design and construction of so many of the Cactus League Spring Training facilities for nearly 30 years. It is now our privilege to highlight a family member who is at Spring Training this year! Sam Long, nephew of our very own Brett Long, is pitching with the San Francisco Giants. Spring Training is now a family affair, and we couldn’t be more proud.
