Concrete work has begun for both the inner circle curbing as well as the outter circle curbing. The Traffic Circle included over 100 foot radius for right-of-way with approximately 20 feet of asphalt for a travel lane. The inner curb is mountable along with 13 feet of Class "A" concrete for extra protection. The inner curb and extra width of concrete allows for over steering and correction while manuvering the roundabout. A new irrigation channel along the edge of Crismon Road was constructed to supply water to the existing farms next door. We were also lucky to catch a couple of dust devils off in the background. Thanks again to Jake, our drone pilot.

Well, it’s happening… Rezoning has been completed and the project team is deep into design, developing solutions for the construction of phase one, while accommodating future phases… because the need for the additional phases will be eminent once the kids (and parents) are able to experience the joy of learning life skills through soccer at this premium facility and fields.

Several members from the Lloyd Sports + Engineering team celebrated the upcoming retirement of ASU's Athletic Grounds Facilities Manager, Brian Johnson, this past Wednesday at the Papago Golf Course. The lunch included attendance from industry friends and colleagues from ASU, UA, SiteWorks, and West Coast Turf. In addition, special guest Don Follett, former Director of Fields and Grounds with the Baltimore Ravens, who preceded Brian's position at ASU, was also present for the celebration. The intimate lunch honored Brian's 37 year legacy at ASU, his lasting friendship, and notoriety talent that he has brought to field quality at both the professional and collegiate levels.
Congratulations again to Brian Johnson from all of us at Lloyd, and wish him the best in his next chapter! Maricopa High School #2 construction continues here in Episode 2. The classroom and gymnasium building envelopes are closed up. The Track and Field construction is progressing and it's fun to watch the water truck do its job. Thanks again to our in-house drone pilot, Jake. We are so proud to have such a great team with Maricopa High School District, Orcutt | Winslow and Chasse Building Team.
We like to look back on previous projects every now and again to see how everything is holding up. This month we are checking in on how the Santa Teresa High School athletic fields and landscaping are looking after 9 months. The fields look great and the landscaping is really starting to fill in. The bioswale grasses look lush and green and the trees are full! Here are some before and after photos around the site. Thanks again to Field Turf and Bothman Construction for excellent work. Lloyd Sports + Engineering's own Sam and Anthony met Olympic gold medalist Dan O'Brien during our tour of Bell Bank Park (Legacy) this past month. Dan O'Brien is a former decathlete and is now Executive Vice President of Athletic Development at the park and helped lead the tour as we visited their sports medicine and athletic training facilities. Dan is personally involved in on-site training for the athletes at Bell Bank Park.
During lunch at the G.O.A.T. Restaurant at Bell Bank Park, we had this photo taken with Dan and his 1996 Olympic Gold Medal for Decathlon. Dan shared an interesting fact with us: only the Gold Medal Owner is allowed to wear it, but we were allowed to hold it, so we were content with that. |
