Robert McQueen High School Football Field Synthetic Turf Conversion

4/16/2021

As part of the continued dedication to their student athletic program and effort to maintain player safety, the Washoe County School District acquired funding to convert their aging synthetic turf field to a premium quality synthetic turf playing surface. All of us at Lloyd Sports + Engineering are proud to have helped the District achieve their goal.

The aging synthetic field included an infill that consisted of sand and crumb rubber that has, after the fact, found to contain traces of lead. Part of this project included responsible disposal and removal of all existing lead-containing crumb rubber infill.

The improvements also included a reintegration of the fields drainage system, consisting of new perimeter trenches to infiltrate storm runoff. The infill is a blend of sand and clean lead-free crumb rubber. The center of field is adorned with an intricate logo of the Lancer Knight and the field of play includes alternating shades of green that give the field a unique look. The new field is striped solely for football and will support the McQueen Lancers for many seasons to come.
