Monday Night Football in Las Vegas

9/21/2020

Tonight, Allegiant Stadium, the new home for the Las Vegas Raiders and UNLV Rebels, will be unveiled to the country and the world. The new cutting-edge venue designed by Manica Architecture and HNTB will surely become the venue of choice for the mega events with global significance.  The sleek, modern, monochromatic exterior is mimicked on the interior to achieve an experience that can only be the Raiders. Simply amazing work during challenging times by the entire build team from Mortenson/McCarthy to deliver over $2 billion dollars in construction in time for tonight's opening event on Monday Night Football.  Howard Cosell, Don Meredith and Frank Gifford may not be in house tonight, nor will the late Al Davis, but when they were, the Raiders boasted the best Monday Night Football winning percentage. Go Raider Nation.

Lloyd Sports + Engineering is thrilled to be part of the team to engineer and deliver the second fully retractable natural grass playing surface in North America with State Farm Stadium (another Lloyd design) in Glendale, Arizona being the first in 2006.  The new Raiders playing surface builds on the success of the field for the Arizona Cardinals and delivers a version 2.0, so to speak, that includes an improved concrete substrate, resilient waterproofing, and even an in-ground electric soil warming system for the cold Vegas winter evenings. It took a village to deliver this world class playing surface that moves out of the stadium making way for a multitude of events and uses. Structural engineers at ARUP, to mechanical engineers at Uni-Systems, to agronomy advisors at DA Hogan, and all the building trades including Fields Inc. who assembled and built the playing field specific components.

Best of luck to the entire Raiders organization as they launch their new venue for decades to come.  From the ownership, to the starting quarterback, to Head Turf Manager Zach Longnecker and his entire team, "Just Win Baby"....and under the current conditions, be safe.
