A few weeks ago, the Lloyd team was proud to attend the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the West-MEC Agua Fria Campus in Avondale, AZ! 🎉 Lloyd provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services for this incredible vocational campus, collaborating closely with West-MEC, the City of Avondale, Agua Fria, SPS+ Architects, GCON, and the full design team to bring the project to life. Built on the former Agua Fria transportation center site, the new facility offers a variety of hands-on trade programs that empower local high school students and schools. The Lloyd team is already developing preliminary designs for Phase II, pending this year’s bond election — and we’re excited to see what’s next for this impactful project! 🚀 Lloyd is excited to welcome Scott Friend to the team! 🎉🤝
Scott graduated from Arizona State University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and brings over 20 years of civil design experience to Lloyd. His background includes water distribution and storage, water and sewer design, and grading and drainage projects. Scott’s well-rounded experience allows him to approach every project with a comprehensive perspective—helping design teams collaborate effectively and feel valued throughout the process. His mindfulness, collaborative spirit, and commitment to quality and standards consistently lead to successful, on-time, and on-budget results. 📏💡 A devoted sports fan, Scott joins Lloyd eager to expand his expertise in sports fields, complexes, and stadium development projects. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and cheering on his beloved ASU Sun Devils. 🌟 Our Landscape Architecture Intern, Abby, recently represented Lloyd Sports + Engineering at the ASLA National Conference in New Orleans. She joined the student sketch crawl through Algiers Point and connected with peers from across the country. One of the most impactful sessions she attended highlighted how inclusive design, diverse programming, and long-term community engagement can transform underused parkland into vibrant, equitable spaces. Abby also spent time networking around the expo and exploring emerging tools and ideas shaping the future of landscape architecture — insights she’s excited to bring back to the Lloyd team. If you’re a passionate Irrigation Designer looking for a chance to design world-class sports fields and recreation spaces, Lloyd Sports + Engineering wants you! Work on cutting-edge irrigation systems for natural grass, synthetic turf, and parks across the U.S. , great projects, and a team that loves what we do. 💧⚽️🏟️

Lloyd team members Zach Plum and Garrett Baumann traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska last Saturday to experience a Husker game day firsthand as Nebraska defeated Michigan State in an exciting Big Ten matchup. 🏈🌽 Beyond the game, the visit offered valuable insight into field and sideline operations at a major college football venue. Zach and Garrett observed the gameday setup process and connected with staff behind the scenes, gaining knowledge that helps Lloyd design more efficient, operations-focused facilities. ⚙️📋 An exciting and informative trip for our team—Go Big Red! |
