This year the Lloyd Sports + Engineering team worked with Rocklin High School in Rocklin, CA to renovate and upgrade their track and field. The new improvements at Rocklin High School football, soccer, track & field stadium included a full replacement of their aging synthetic turf feld and a reconfiguration of their field events. Surrounding the field is the school's aging track surface which received a full resurfacing treatment. Rocklin High School student body was instrumental in the success of the feld’s appearance as they provided the design of the graphics and logos on the playing surface. As we continue to celebrate National Coaches Day, Brett Long is highlighting Coach Jim Sacket at Cal Poly. "My experience with Coach Jim Sacket was of a teacher and mentor who understood the rigors of a landscape architecture degree at Cal Poly. He showed me a path to success in academics and track and field. He turned a skinny high jumper into an unlikely national qualifying decathlete using expertise and positive motivation. I was fortunate to compete for Coach Sackett during two of his conference championships. Those seasons have contributed substantially to how I approach life and relationships. His teams exemplify the spirit of what is to be a student athlete. Sadly, Coach Sackett passed away last February. I'll dedicate this National Coaching Day to him!" In celebration of National Coaches Day, we will be highlighting some coaches that have made an impact on our team members at Lloyd Sports + Engineering. Our first coaches highlight is Coach Mortensen at Adams State University, by Jane Theobald. "Instead of cutting me from the program my freshman year, Coach Mortensen gave me the choice to be a practice player, so my whole freshman year, I spent participating in drills, but sitting or standing on the sidelines next to the coaches. I learned that practice doesn't make perfect, but PERFECT practice makes perfect. I also learned to never cut corners, both in running laps and in life. To this day, I still don't cut corners while walking on sidewalks. I learned high expectations of myself and my team. It's been 17 years since I've played for her and I am still learning the impact she had on me. Thank you Coach Mortensen!" Our final coaches highlight, in celebration of National Coaches Day, are Coach Bob Milano, Sr., Cal Berkeley and UCLA Head Coach John Savage, by Bob Milano, Jr. "Congratulations to all coaches at all levels and years of experience, from tee ball through major collegiate levels. Last Spring a couple of our most “experienced” coaches and clients, Retired Cal Baseball Head Coach Bob Milano Sr. and current UCLA Head Baseball Coach John Savage shared a moment together in Berkeley. Thanks to all coaches who help mold our youth to be better players, and more importantly to be outstanding people." This summer the Lloyd Sports + Engineering team was the lead design engineer for the brand new field in MacKay Stadium. The construction is nearly complete with everyone dotting the I's and crossing the T's. The unique feature of this field is there are no soccer lines! We're very excited for the Nevada Wolf Pack to have a fresh new football field for the season. |
