Please join us in congratulating Abby Schmidt on her recent graduation from Arizona State University! 🎓 During her time at ASU, Abby was the president of the ASU Club Golf Team and student member of ASLA. She previously played collegiate golf at Mesa Community College, where she was named the 2021 ACCAC Player of the Year and 2023 Ms. Thunderbird for all athletics.🏌️♀️ Abby graduated in May with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree 🌿 and joined Lloyd Sports + Engineering full-time in June as a Landscape Designer. 👏 We are excited to have her on the team and look forward to seeing her continue to grow in her career. Abby enjoyed spending time with family and friends in her hometown Bismarck, North Dakota prior to her start date. Congratulations, Abby! 🎉 Earlier this week, the Lloyd team came together in LA for our 2026 Team Retreat! ✨
The highlight was a visit to SoFi Stadium, where we got a behind-the-scenes look at one of the world's premier sports venues and our work at the stadium for the 2026 World Cup. A huge thank you SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park Park Facility and Campus Operations Senior Vice President Otto Benedict for sharing his insights on running a facility of this caliber, to Christopher Carnahan of Precision Turf for walking us through what goes into a world-class playing surface and to BrightView Landscapes for trusting in us as their design engineering partner. We even had the chance to kick some goals on the field ourselves! ⚽ The rest of the retreat brought presentations from our team members, bowling 🎳, great dinners, plenty of laughs, and the in-person catch-ups we can't get enough of. We were even treated to a surprise visit from Mike Lloyd! 🎉 With our team spread across offices and job sites, it's not often we get everyone in the same room. Time together like this is a great reminder of the people behind the work, and we're grateful for every one of them. Thank you to everyone who made this retreat one to remember! 🙌 #Lloyd #LloydSports #LloydSportsandEngineering #LloydEngineering #sportsdesign #sportsengineering #landscapearchitecture #civilengineering We’ll be watching today for the final tournament game played at SoFi Stadium on the purpose built, cutting-edge natural grass overlay. What a wonderful tournament it’s been so far!
Good luck to all the remaining teams! ⚽🔥 📸: Curtesy of Brightview Landscapes Tonight, the eyes of the global soccer community are on the Bay Area and the pitch at Levi’s Stadium for the highly anticipated Round of 32 clash between the USA and Bosnia & Herzegovina. While the world focuses on the star athletes on the field, our team is proud to highlight the world-class engineering, science, and design that went into creating the surface they are playing on. 2026 has been a showcase of elite sports turf management in the Bay Area. Back in February, the field was first put to the test with the biggest event in American sport, Super Bowl LX. Fast forward to this summer, and the pitch has shifted to the world’s biggest event, the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Engineering a stadium surface that can seamlessly transition between different sports in a matter of months, and to the standards of two powerhouse organizations like the NFL and FIFA requires thoughtful planning, creative solutions, and ultimately a turf management team that can bring it all together when the lights shine the brightest. We’re incredibly proud of our partnership with San Francisco 49ers, their turf and operations crew for their tireless work, and the entire project team that has prepared this field for such a big year and kept the Bay Area at the pinnacle of global sports entertainment. Let's go, USMNT! |
