We're excited to introduce Lloyd’s new student intern, Justin Sullivan! 📢✨ Justin brings a unique combination of engineering experience and athletic field operations that makes him a great fit for the sports engineering industry. Justin is actively involved with The University of Alabama's ASCE Student Chapter, serving as Vice-President of Operations and President of leading the Steel Bridge competition team! In his free time, he can be found supporting Alabama athletics. As a member of the Athletic Grounds Staff, he has helped maintain the University's athletic facilities, including preparing and painting Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium and Sewell-Thomas Stadium for game days. His experience in athletic field maintenance helped introduce him to the world of sports engineering, where he discovered a career path that combines his passion for engineering and sports. Welcome, Justin! Roll Tide! 🎉  Batter up! 🧢 Following the completion of the new North High School Ballfield complex in Phoenix, Arizona, we are so excited to see these fields in action. Lloyd had the privilege of providing civil, sports, and landscape architecture services to completely transform this baseball and softball facility. We got to work on everything from the ground up—including the new fields, dugouts, bullpens, batting cages, and site improvements. Go Mustangs! ⚾ 📸: Thank you Willmeng for the amazing site photos! Lloyd is excited to welcome Michelle Lintzner and Tina Judy to our Accounting team! We’re grateful to have our staff and consultants collaborating with these two outstanding additions. 🎉🖥️ Outside of accounting and project forecasting, Michelle enjoys spending time outdoors in Lake Tahoe, where she has lived for more than 25 years. Whether she's skiing, snowboarding, hiking, camping, or relaxing at the beach, Michelle stays active year-round. She also coaches gymnastics and spends many weekends cheering on her two children at their various sporting events. When Tina closes the spreadsheets, she can be found exploring new cities with her family, enjoying movies and music, or playing the bass guitar. She also has a passion for nutrition science, exercise, and maintaining an active lifestyle. Welcome, Michelle and Tina! 🙌  Lloyd team member, Jordan Bridgman, recently participated in STEAM Week (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and taught local 4th grade students about what it takes to bring their favorite sports fields to life! About 130 students had the opportunity to design and layout their very own sports fields while implementing sports engineering staples: 📐Scale - learning the size of various fields and how to scale it down to fit on a drawing. 📝Design - Creating their own logos, field colors and branding! 🏟️Engineering - building and placing model foul poles, goals, and goal posts. The level of student engagement, their thoughtful questions, and finished products were off the charts! It is very exciting to see the next generation of sports field engineers being so interested in what we do every day! Thank you to the staff and students for welcoming Jordan! Bob and Patrick were in Dallas at AT&T Stadium earlier this week, checking out the impressive grow lighting setup and the preparation of the match pitch for next month's major tournament. What caught our eye was the brilliant SGL grow light system. Suspended directly from the roof, this setup allows maintenance crews to easily work on and irrigate the pitch without the hassle of navigating traditional, heavy wheeled assemblies on the turf. The stadium shares many similarities with the work we did at SoFi Stadium, so it was fantastic to see a similar application with nuanced differences. We can learn a lot from seeing other installations like this, constantly bringing home new and different ideas to push our own designs forward. Outside-the-box solutions to support natural grass in indoor environments might just represent the future of sports engineering.
