Why design and build a soccer complex that has multiple sized fields? Let’s start with the O Jogo Bonito Fútbol Club Vision statement:
O Jogo Bonito, “The Beautiful Game!”, is a state of mind, a higher calling. The fullest expression of playing fútbol there is. Where players brim with technical mastery, field vision, confidence and fearlessness, in complete control of both ball and opponent. OJB FC endeavors to become the new standard, immersing its players in an exciting environment in which to learn and thrive, relentless in the pursuit of fútbol perfection. People from around the glove know The Beautiful Game when they see it, binding players and spectators in an emotional experience like no other, passionate and joyful and satisfying. Welcome to O Jogo Bonito State of Mind! This Vision Statement shared with Lloyd Sports + Engineering has been the guiding force when challenging design decisions are being made. As we look at any specific design decision, we are reminded to think about how the design will affect students being able to achieve the O Jogo Bonito State of Mind. To answer the initial question, the smaller fields are designed for students that are about 8 years old or younger. This allows them to master the smaller field and build confidence in their technical skills before moving up to a larger field. Each progression adds to the technical mastery, field vision, fearlessness and confidence in each student, thus moving them closer to the O Jogo Bonito State of Mind!
