Join us in welcoming Abigail Schmidt, Lloyd’s new student intern! ☀️📚
Abby is a fourth-year Landscape Architecture student at Arizona State University, where she brings a unique blend of creativity, leadership, and athletic drive to everything she does. Originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, Abby grew up surrounded by nature, snow, and sports, which sparked her passion for outdoor spaces and recreation-focused design. 🌵 She is currently the president of the ASU Club Golf Team and previously played collegiate golf at Mesa Community College, where she was named the 2021 ACCAC Player of the Year and 2023 Ms. Thunderbird for all athletics. 🏌️♀️👏 Abby is passionate about designing spaces that encourage movement, foster community, and support mental well-being. Her love for outdoor adventure recently took her abroad, where she studied design in Barcelona, Malta, and Sicily, and even hiked Mt. Etna along the way. When she is not in class or on the course, you could likely find Abby watching baseball (she is a die-hard Los Angeles Dodgers fan), spending time with friends and family, or simply soaking up the sun. “I am excited to be working with Lloyd because of their strong focus on sports and recreation design. Growing up in a sports-loving family, I’ve seen firsthand how being active can shape someone’s life—in terms of both physical and mental well-being. It is incredibly meaningful to be part of a team that is dedicated to creating spaces where these experiences can happen.” Lloyd is excited to have you for the summer, Abby! 🎉 🌱 Huge thanks to Jay Danek and West Coast Turf in Scottsdale, Arizona for hosting Lloyd this week! Our team had an amazing time furthering our understanding of turf and getting a firsthand look at your operations. We really appreciate you sharing your expertise with us. We're excited to apply what we've learned! Earlier this month, the Lloyd team had the pleasure of being at Queen Creek High School for the ribbon cutting and unveiling of the new synthetic turf sports field for the Bulldogs! 🎉🐾 This exciting renovation involved converting the existing grass field to synthetic turf featuring organic infill, new goal posts, and Game-On technology. Our work also included essential updates to the irrigation and drainage systems 💧, as well as a new engineering base course to ensure long-term performance. 💪 We're incredibly proud of how this project turned out and the positive impact it will have for the students and the community. ✨ Can't wait to catch a game on the new field! 🏈⚽ Take a look at the latest updates: the new softball backstop and dugouts are in place, infield fines have been installed, the asphalt base is prepped for track surfacing, the facility restroom building is complete, and new sports lighting is up! Coming soon: track surfacing and striping, plus sod installation for the multi-use sports field! 🌱🏃♀️⚽ 📸: Huge thanks to Van Pelt for the incredible aerial photos documenting each phase of construction so far! |
