Over the past weekend Lloyd Sports + Engineering Team gathered in Las Vegas, Nevada, for some overdue time together. The weekend festivities included an amazing tour of Allegiant Stadium, the new home to the Las Vegas Raiders, and included a custom stop at North America's second fully retractable natural grass sports field system. Lloyd's playing field system design, complemented by Uni-systems "structures in motion" expertise, delivered this successful retractable field system at the stadium. This follows the long standing success of the first one at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, home to the Arizona Cardinals. The tour of the Allegiant Stadium project which opened in 2020, contributed to the start of an already incredible year; including the opening of the largest private sports park in North America, Bell Bank Park by Legacy Cares in Mesa, Arizona; 3 new high performance fields for Santa Rosa Junior College among many others; along with a wide array of high schools, parks, and university projects throughout the western region.
New drone images provide a great view of the new synthetic turf at Los Altos High School! This field supports a multi-use facility for soccer, lacrosse and field hockey. Thanks to Garret Fonseca at RGM Kramer for the great images. The new synthetic training field at UCLA's Jackie Robinson Stadium is nearing completion. The baseball specific synthetic turf infield will provide an all weather, year round training surface for the team, and serve as an amazing game day space for activities of all shapes and sizes. The project includes new sports lighting and a modernization of the adjacent pitching bullpen, along with some enhanced landscape areas near the main entrance of the Stadium. The new playing surface will include an organic infill topping mixed among the turf fiber blades, supplanting the more commonly found rubber granules. This will also deliver a more grass like ball reaction and reduced temperatures, all while duplicating existing game conditions. Many thanks to UCLA Baseball Head Coach John Savage, and the entire UCLA Community for the opportunity to be part of this collaborative project team. Lloyd appreciates the opportunity to further improve and enhance the historic Jackie Robinson Stadium. Construction is well underway for the new BetMGM Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium. The Great Lawn is going to be the center hub of activity next season for the fans. You can see how close the Great Lawn South Pavilion is to this new facility in these recent photos. We will keep you posted as the site develops! Again, we're so happy to work with our top notch design and construction team SmithGroup, AECOM, and Arizona Cardinals Football Club. Bell Bank Park recently celebrated their official grand opening last weekend. The festivities commenced last Friday afternoon with an official ribbon cutting ceremony along "Miller Way", followed by an evening concert on the great lawn, and various events and activities throughout the rest of the weekend. Lloyd members Anthony Stevenson and Justin Peterson attended the event, and were able to witness the great support that has surrounded this project over the past several years. The facility, having only been opened for a month now, has seen an abundance of events and tournaments, as well as use by both local and out of town guests, and will be a long lasting amenity for years to come.
