Lloyd Sports + Engineering was a proud sponsor at this year's AIAAA State Conference that occurred this past weekend at the Prescott Convention Center. Team members Justin Peterson and Zach Plum participated in the Sunday morning golf tournament, and later joined colleague Valerie Ahyong at the vendor expo throughout the remainder of the conference. Congratulations to Tonya Lee, Athletic Director, Youngker High School, of Buckeye Union High School District for winning the Yeti backpack cooler that Lloyd gifted as part of the conference raffle. And a big thank you to all of the AD/Coaches and Vendors who stopped by our booth to meet our team. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
Maricopa High School #2 construction continues in Episode 4. The classroom and gymnasium building construction looks nearly complete. The footing construction for the Phase 2 building has begun. The track surfacing is rolled out and the grass field is growing. Thanks again to our in-house drone pilot, Jake Ireland. We are so proud to have such a great team with Maricopa High School District, Orcutt | Winslow and Chasse Building Team.

Throughout the design process the client has had a very clear vision for the spaces they wanted included in the soccer facility. One specific element was a 10’ tall technique wall for athletes to practice kicking against. How does one incorporate a 10’ tall wall without blocking visibility or creating long runs of ramps or stairs? Although this site looks decently flat to the naked eye, there is actually about 15’ of grade change from south to north, which worked to our advantage when locating the Technique Wall. We used the wall to lower the Heart, Mind, and Body fields and create a specific technical training space. For the final design, the wall is slightly smaller at 8’ tall. In addition, it is only retaining 4’ of soil with 4’ of wall above grade for fall protection. This wall ended up being about 250’ in length. That’s about 2000sf of wall to kick against. Imagine all the students a coach can have kicking against that!
