Last night, the new Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin Nevada opened to great fanfare and a win by the Aviators, the Oakland A's AAA affiliate. Lloyd Sports + Engineering is thankful to be part of a great project team in our role designing and overseeing the new playing field portion of the work. Congratulations to the entire Howard Hughes Corporation who had the vision and leadership skill in seamless integration with the Aviator Baseball Club.
The new ballpark is 340 feet to right and left field and 415 to center. Amenities include suites, a center field pool, kids' zone, and several bars. The ballpark is equipped with 8,000 mesh seats holding a total capacity of 10,000. The stadium also features indoor batting cages, a weight room and a rehabilitation center.
The design team led by HOK Architecture brought to life a great sports and entertainment venue for the Summerlin Downtown zone. The collaboration of Hunt-Penta did a marvelous job constructing the project in a condensed time-frame with their field builder Brightview of Las Vegas. Head Groundskeeper Collin Doebler and his crew performed magic transforming a recently completed field into a AAA playing surface in short order.
All of best to a great season for the Aviators.
