Construction is underway to transform the synthetic turf playing surface at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the two time Super Bowl Champions Baltimore Ravens, back to a high performance natural grass surface.
The synthetic surface was carefully stripped and shipped off for recycling and reuse to compliment the ongoing commitment by both the Maryland Stadium Authority and the Ravens to maximizing sustainability. Closer to next year's pre-season, fans can purchase small pieces of the Raven's turf in commemorative cases.
The removal of the underlying crushed stone base is now underway as are minor modifications to the underground systems (irrigation, drainage, controls) necessary for the successful growth of a vigorous turf surface. The project team of Lloyd Civil and Sports Engineers, MOTZ Construction, the Maryland Stadium Authority, and the Baltimore Ravens are all pointing toward a May placement of the new sod surface.
